Large-breed puppies may look sturdy, but they’re just as fragile as other puppies! Be careful when playing and avoid roughhousing.

Founder and Creator, Mari Justin, formed her team and corporate identity in early 2000. Her deep admiration and love for animals was her driving force to try and help as many animals as she could. The DoggyLicious, LLC. team she put together consists of very talented, loving and patient individuals. Just like you, we are dog and cat lovers. We don't own our animals; they are our family members that we care for, love and respect. |
Our History |
The initial idea of Doggy Java came about back in 1996 when my Veterinarian told me that my animals were dehydrated after getting their blood test results. I then asked them how I could hydrate my animals without forcing them to take fluids (water) through a syringe, etc. Their only advice was to give them as much wet food as possible. Well a strict diet of wet food is not very good for their teeth and even worse for their bowels. So I then made sure to have several bowls of water throughout the house readily available at all times and also outside as well. To me, it wasn't the availability of water that was the issue; it was that my animals weren't drinking enough on their own, even though the medical theory is that Dogs regulate themselves. Then my question was, if they regulate themselves and I have plenty of fresh bottled water around for them, then why are they dehydrated?
One morning, shortly after that visit to my Vet, while I was having my morning coffee or tea with all my animals around me, as I usually did, I realized how great it would be to share this experience with my animals and serve them their version of a drink that was tailor made for good health and nutrition and at the same time help induce them to drink more. Well, since I have a bad habit of feeding my dogs from the table and sharing almost everything I eat with them. I decided what if dogs could enjoy their daily coffee like all their pet owners could. How much fun would that be? To share that time with your best friend. I then realized that real coffee isn't healthy for dogs and who wants a hyper dog? So, I started my quest to educate myself on Health and Nutrition and the overall well-being of my pets. With my father being an Orthopedic Surgeon and me having taken nursing classes, I knew enough to find the right resources and cultivated wonderful friendships with several Veterinarians throughout the U.S., which in turn, helped me create Doggy Java.
I wanted Doggy Java to make dogs feel the way I did when I would smell and taste my cup of coffee or tea – all yummy inside. So, we all worked long and hard to develop a formula that would be a Nutritional, palatable fluid that was healthy and delicious for dogs. With many years of research and going back and forth with ideas, I finally came up with a unique and wonderful treat for dogs that not only would hydrate them, but give them their nutritional value of vitamins and minerals.
Yes, there are other water products for dogs and what is the difference? Let me tell you there isn't any like Doggy Java and I'll tell you why. Doggy Java comes in a powder form that is easy to carry on you when you're on the go, hiking with your dog, strolling in the park and basically anywhere. All you have to do is add water and you have your caramel color flavored water for hydration, nutrition and most important Yummy for your Dog! Other water products can be costly due to the fact that these products weigh a considerable amount when shipping cases. So, I wanted to make this product affordable, healthy, cute and fun for our dogs and ourselves.
Just think, who likes taking big horse pills and/or any form of vitamin and who has the time to really keep a steady regimen? But, if you look at the majority of humans on this planet, they always find a way to make and/or pick up a cup of coffee every day without even blinking an eye. Why can't we do that for our furry loved ones and share the experience. Wow, what a wonderful idea! I can have my enjoyable cup of coffee or tea and introduce this daily habit to my dog who has watched me for his or her entire life doing the same thing every day and not even sharing.
Who ever thought 20 years ago we would be purchasing water to drink? We have evolved and are more attentive to the fountain of youth and living longer. We have found that water (hydration) is a big part of that process and a big part of what we are made of. So aren't our pets mostly made of water too? Let's not forget our bundles of joy and create hydrating treats that are filled with good nutritional values to assist them in living longer, too.
I could not imagine not sharing a portion of these proceeds of this nutritional product with organizations that care for our abandoned dogs and cats. Therefore, proceeds from Doggy Java will be given to the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Animal Cancer Center through the CSU Foundation, which is the 501(c)(3) Organization of the Colorado State University. Also to the Katrina animal victims. If you're wondering why I picked the
Animal Cancer Center
, it's because in 2001, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, my mother was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and my cat Smokey was diagnosed with cancer, too. Thanks to God, my mother and I are still alive, but I had a terrible experience watching my cat, who was also my best friend, die of cancer. At the time, I had very limited resources in with to help him. So, when I was blessed with the ability to make Doggy Java happen, I researched thoroughly and diligently for who in the world knew anything about cancer in animals and had solutions to the problem. I found the
College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Animal Cancer Center at
Colorado State University.
I have two dogs and one cat. If it were possible, I would have hundreds of pets. I always adopt pets that are abandoned on the streets like my two dogs King Kong (Chow-Chow), Pucina (Lab/German Shepard mix) and Bootsy, a stray alley cat that was barely four weeks old when I found her over 15 years ago. Over the past 37 years, I have been blessed to be able to help save and place in hundreds of abandoned animals in loving homes from
Florida to California and Phoenix. Believe me when I say, the more successful Doggy Java becomes, the more I will be able to help other animals in the world.
God bless you all and may we succeed in the quest to keep developing new ways to protect our pets and animals throughout the world who need so much love like we do.
